Sisters of Joy

This piece made me so happy hearing what this moment is. The three girls had to leave their village and all that they knew and moved elsewhere in Africa. My good friend Griffin Barnes, who has an incredible heart for Africa, made care packages for all people moved out of their village that he knew from previous visits. He sent the packages and these three girls received one. This is a photo of them trying on these new colorful dressed and the pure joy they express brings life. The dresses slowly are sculpted out of joint compound and plaster to become 3D.

Medium

Chalk Pastels on wood with joint compound gradually built up to create the dresses in 3D.
