Inspiration for “Living Water”

I saw this photo and instantly knew I had to draw him, “Living Water”. Really, I had no other inspiration for this piece except that he made me happy. I had not made a piece this size before. My inspiration drove me to just do it.  I went to the store, bought a 4 x 8 piece of particle board, primed it and started. Honestly, I didn’t know at the time if I was capable of drawing him, but had the urge and just did it. This piece brought me so much joy and freedom, getting into the ‘art zone’ and disappearing into a place where I didn’t even think. I fell in love with working big. His happiness and the moment of receiving clean water was bigger than me and anything I have ever faced. It opened the door to more art.
